Mini Tutorial
Below are the basic instructions for using my Circle & Wave template. Included with each template is a complete, step-by-step, photo illustrated, spiral bound instruction manual. |
With fabric on the machine, draw a grid on the fabric. For best results I recommend the Stencil Grids designed specifically for these templates. On light fabrics I like to use the Mark Be Gone water soluble fabric marking pen. On dark fabric I like to use Miracle Chalk in a Chalk O Liner dispenser. |
Matching the drawn grid lines on the fabric and the etched grid lines of the template, place template on fabric. To keep template from slipping I spray a small amount of temporary spray fabric adhesive on the etched side of the template. Carefully stitch along the curved edge of the template. Keep your fingers near the needle and keep firm, but gentle pressure on the template. |
The photo at the left shows one row of stitching with the template removed. One half of the circles have been stitched. |
Move the "hump" of the template to next vertical grid line. Position the template on the grid lines and stitch the second row. This will "close" the circles. You now have one long row of circles with only one or two starts and stops. |
Stitch another row of circles just below the first row of circles. |
Rows of circles make an interesting background quilting design. A single row of circles makes a great sashing design. |
Stitch a row of circles between and offset from the first two rows. |
Continue making rows of circles to create this
traditional quilting pattern.
This quilting pattern is named Orange Peel, Wine Glass, Cathedral Window and Pumpkin Seed. |

Stitched with contrasting thread gives this pattern more "punch". |
