I know it is spring when I see new life such as farm animals, trees
leafing out and bright hues of green shades, flowers are blooming
and vivid in color, and life seems to be renewed with more to do
and so little time to get it done.

Winner!!
it's warm and sunny enough to hang my first laundry on the line.
When I smell that wonderful scent that only line-dried laundry has,
for the first time in the year, I know spring is here.
#3

I know it's spring when my snow crocus' pop out and my herb garden
comes to life.
#4 Susan S, TX
The mesquite trees are budding, the bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush
and yucca are blooming and we see the first scissor-tailed
flycatcher of the year.
#5 Robin Y, ON Canada
The Robins start to sing!!!!! Oh that lovely sound!
#6 Bettie
It is really spring when, all my cats go out side, & leave me alone
so I can quilt.
#7 Sheryl J, CA
I get the urge to wash my house windows so I can see the beautiful
outdoors! (and that's really saying something because I hate to
wash windows!)
#8 Palma D, WA
When the mole hills out number the Robins!
#9 Rhonda H
I know it is REALLY SPRING when I am anxious to get my spring
cleaning done so I have more time to QUILT!
#10 Carolyn H
The car is dusted in YELLOW! (pollen, of course!)
#11 Debbie F
I know it’s really Spring when thoughts of gardening overtake
thoughts of quilting!
#12 Margaret P, IN
the fertilizer commercials start appearing on local TV channels.
That means crocuses, daffodils and farmers in the fields aren't far
behind!

Stephanie E, ID I know
Spring is here when I've rearranged, re-sorted, and reorganized my
enormous fabric stash, which isn't really a "stash" at all. I would
consider it more an obsession. You know it's time to do some Spring
sewing, Summer, Winter, daytime, nighttime, anytime, when you have
more fabric in your house than any other thing, including clothing,
store-bought or handmade. Spring is really here when I stop petting
my fabric and start making brightly-colored, flowery, beautiful
quilts, wall hangings, and my new favorite thing to make: quilted
bags, totes, and backpacks. It's probably a good thing I have four
daughters to give them all to or I may have ended up, though
blissfully, swimming in quilted bags!
I have really
discovered my calling this Spring: As a disabled veteran and avid
quilter, I joined the Quilts of Valor Foundation, whose mission is
to provide lovingly handcrafted quilts to servicemen and women and
veterans who have been wounded in combat or otherwise touched by the
ravages of war.
Due to a back injury and
surgery, sewing
and quilting have become about the only activities I can participate
in that don't cause me a great deal of pain, and of course, writing.
I love writing poetry and horror fiction, and am currently working
on a story about a possessed sewing machine!
I really know it's
Spring when I look out my window at all the beautiful colors
"springing" up everywhere and think, "What a beautiful quilt that
would make!" And then I make it!
