The Longarm University Quilting Challenge is the first challenge of it's kind! Simply print out the Challenge Block and Small Quilt, "quilt" it by drawing how you would quilt it and send it back to Longarm University. The quilting designs will be posted on this website for all to see. The Purpose of this Quilting Challenge: To show the many different ways to quilt a pieced block and small quilt. Who Can Enter: This challenge and is open to all quilters regardless of their skill level. Both machine (longarm, shortarm, home machine) and hand quilters are encouraged to enter.
This is a FREE Challenge and
How the Quilting Challenge Works: At the beginning of each month – between the 1st and 5th – an illustration of a pieced quilt block and a small quilt made with this block will be posted on this website. The block will be available as a PDF file which can be downloaded by anyone. Once downloaded, draw or detail how YOU would quilt this block. To make this challenge more challenging, DO NOT use Stitch in the Ditch or Stippling! Send your "quilted" block and small quilt back to Longarm University as a PDF file or as a jpeg attached to an email. (Scan your drawing then attach it to an email.) All entries will be posted on the Longarm U website. The entrants name and state will be acknowledged under their entry. If several participants enter the same, or very similar, designs their names will be listed under the first entry of its type received. Each Quilting Challenge will be “open” for one month. On or about the 15th of the next month, the entries will be posted on the Longarm U website. These rules will also be included in the PDF file with the quilt block and small quilt. If you have any questions about the Quilting Challenge please Contact Longarm University A completed (pieced, quilted and bound) quilted block or small quilt is NOT required. If you would like, piece and quilt a small quilt and donate it to your favorite charity. If you don't have a favorite charity, I would like to recommend the following charities which make quilts for soldiers who are wounded from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: Send photos of any quilts or projects you make from the Quilting Challenge patterns and they will be posted on the Longarm University website. To Begin: Simply click here or on the date at the top of the column at the right. This will take you to the current Quilting Challenge. We can't wait to see what creative quilters like you and your friends can come up with! ------------------------------------ Since November 27,
