Working With Templates

In this intense, lecture, demo and hands-on template workshop, students will have use of Longarm University templates and other quilting supplies during the workshop. All Longarm U templates will be available for purchase at discounted prices at the end of the workshop.

 

All students need for this class is an open mind.  Longarm University will provide everything else! Lunch, soft drinks and snacks are provided each day of the workshop

 


Daily Class Schedule

 

Working With Templates Workshop - Day 1

Baptist Fans and Cables

 

Students arrive at the home studio of Cindy Roth, Renton, WA between 8:00 and 8:30 am for coffee and morning munchies.

 

Cindy Roth will begin teaching the Working With Templates workshop at 8:30 am.

 

In the morning session, after introductions, we will work on Circle Templates and the Baptist Fan design.  This will include several border variations and the Baptist Fan as an all over design.

 

Lunch 12 - 1 pm

 

In this afternoon session we will begin working on Cable designs.  You learn the "no math - no measure" method of quilting Single and Double Cable designs.  We will then work on the Triple Cable design.  You will learn several different corner and "middle of the border" options for cables that will make your quilting much easier.

 

Class ends between 4 and 5 pm. 

Working With Templates Workshop - Day 2
Sashiko Quilting

Students arrive at the home studio of Cindy Roth, Renton, WA between 8:00 and 8:30 am for coffee and morning munchies.

 

Cindy Roth will begin teaching the Working With Templates workshop at 8:30 am.

 

in the morning session we will work on Circle based Sashiko patterns using the Curves & Waves template. You will also learn how to use the Cross Hatching ruler to add extra dimension to Sashiko quilting.

 

Lunch 12 - 1 pm

 

In the afternoon session we will continue to work with the Cross Hatching ruler.  We will then work on Diamond based Sashiko patterns using the Sashiko Stars template.

 

In both session you will learn how to "place" the Sashiko patterns behind appliqué patterns and many tips and tricks to make the Sashiko designs easier to quilt.

 

If time allows we will work with the Curve & Point border template.

 

Class ends between 4 and 5 pm. 

 


 

Feathers Class 

 

In this lecture, demo, drawing and hands-on Feathers class all the supplies need for this class will be provided by Longarm University.  Many of the supplies will be sent home with the students at no additional charge.  Other supplies will be available for purchase at the end of the class.

 

During this class there will be a strong emphasis on borders; including what kind of feather design works best in a border, corner options, turned borders and much, much more.

 

All students need for this class is an open mind.  Longarm University will provide everything else! Lunch, soft drinks and snacks are provided each day of the workshop.

Cindy Roth will begin teaching the Feathers Class at 8:30 am.

 

In the morning session, after introductions, we will begin by drawing, then quilting the basic feather shape.  From this we will expand to other feather designs including the "More Bang for the Buck" feather, feathers to fit specific spaces such as triangles, squares, swirls and other shapes.

 

Lunch 12 - 1 pm

 

In this afternoon session we will continue taking the basic feather shape and with the help of the Longarm University Feather Guides we will create Feather Wreaths, Switch Back Feather Border, Feathered Baptist Fans and as many feather designs that time will allow. 

 

Class ends between 4 and 5 pm.
